If you can make ‘creation’ as natural as breathing, it is not because intention is absent; it is because all intention has already dissolved into the breath.

LIFE NOTE

Little Stream

The “little stream” beside the oceanarium: a winding, level path of stone slabs; walking across it brings back the feeling of village streams from my childhood.

In the distance, two palm trees are shedding their old attire. On the right, beside the red window, someone has just passed.

“In the lower-left corner, the shadow holds up a phone;”

Lü · Treading

Classic text · interpretive translation
The path is level and open; steadfastness brings good fortune to the secluded person. — Zhou Yi · Lü, second line (nine)

The second line of Lü uses walking a path to speak of steadfast conduct. Read through this scene, the level surface does not erase the gaps between the slabs; the route bends but still provides places for the feet to land. The line should not be reduced to smooth paving. It suggests a distinction: looking at a path and walking it are different ways of knowing it.

The childhood stream emerges as a feeling while crossing the slabs; it is not the history of this urban water feature. The shadow holding a phone puts the observer inside the picture. The name “little stream” involves both the water and stone before us and the person walking across them.

Reading in briefThe slabs support the steps; memory helps name the place.

Lo Ta-you’s “Childhood” accompanies the village memory stirred by walking across the slabs. The song makes room for that familiarity without adding stories to the author’s childhood.

of notes

Hello, I’m Wang Sanxiong — Sam 🤝

The book’s epigraph is my motto, and the starting point for how I understand life, restaurants, and entrepreneurship.

I am a Chinese immigrant living in Portugal, originally from Qingtian, Zhejiang, and a restaurant owner. I love architecture and the history behind it; I love the I Ching, and use Eastern wisdom to interpret the stories hidden behind history.

A battle for small and medium-sized restaurants to reclaim their own customer channels;
The second half of life should be more exciting than the first — that is only reasonable;

【XIAOXIONG®】

XIAOXIONG®; it is not an advertisement in this book. It is proof that, in the second half of life, I am still willing to change.
