If you can make ‘creation’ as natural as breathing, it is not because intention is absent; it is because all intention has already dissolved into the breath.

LIFE NOTE

Oceanarium II

At night, the poles on the oceanarium roof light up, and the cables trace fine outlines. White and warm yellow light falls on the water, swaying gently with the ripples.

At the main entrance to Oceanário de Lisboa, beneath that row of parasols lit with a warm glow, a couple sit together;

“The oceanarium sheds the bustle of the day and returns to quiet;”

Gen · Keeping Still

Classic text · interpretive translation
When it is time to stop, stop; when it is time to move, move. — Zhou Yi · Gen, Commentary on the Decision (excerpt)

In the Commentary on the Decision, Gen’s stopping is set alongside moving: stillness and movement each have their time. Read through this night scene, the daytime bustle recedes, yet the lights remain and the water still moves. Quiet may come from a change of rhythm; it need not mean the whole place has gone to sleep.

People still linger beneath the parasols. Beyond being a destination for visitors, the oceanarium becomes the backdrop to an evening together. The note says only that the couple are sitting there; it does not tell us their conversation. Gen offers a possible reading here: when one kind of bustle ends, the space still accommodates another kind of lingering.

Reading in briefThe bustle recedes; lingering has its own time.

Danny Chan’s “Take Good Care Tonight” accompanies this moment together after dark. The song stays beside the parasol lights, without inventing a farewell or a past for the couple.

of notes

Hello, I’m Wang Sanxiong — Sam 🤝

The book’s epigraph is my motto, and the starting point for how I understand life, restaurants, and entrepreneurship.

I am a Chinese immigrant living in Portugal, originally from Qingtian, Zhejiang, and a restaurant owner. I love architecture and the history behind it; I love the I Ching, and use Eastern wisdom to interpret the stories hidden behind history.

A battle for small and medium-sized restaurants to reclaim their own customer channels;
The second half of life should be more exciting than the first — that is only reasonable;

【XIAOXIONG®】

XIAOXIONG®; it is not an advertisement in this book. It is proof that, in the second half of life, I am still willing to change.
