Read the note ↘Memoirs of a Chinese restaurateur in Portugal, read through life’s changes and the I Ching.
If you can make ‘creation’ as natural as breathing, it is not because intention is absent; it is because all intention has already dissolved into the breath.Sam Wang

Outside the Pavilion of Knowledge in Parque das Nações, there is that same periodic table, with “Ciência Viva na Rua” written above it.
The boy within the wall reaches towards the elements in the table; outside the wall, two people sit side by side on the bench, listening, oblivious to everything else.
To the right, in the sunlit square, a spherical structural model stands there. At this moment, the symbols on the wall take on three dimensions.
“The two listeners on the bench have found the element the boy is pointing to;”
A lake above the mountain: influence. Thus the noble person receives others with openness.
Xian speaks of influence felt between people. The Image commentary invites us to receive others with openness: to leave some room within ourselves for another person’s voice. It offers one way of reading the listening on that bench.
In the photograph, the boy on the wall is painted; the people on the bench are real. Shadow gathers on the left, sunlight falls on the right. Image and presence, yin and yang, face each other and meet within the same frame.
On the wall, the elements are pointed to; in the square, the structure takes on volume. What the people on the bench have found remains in the author’s final line. There is no need to explain it for them.
Reading in briefLeave a little room to hear each other.Eason Chan’s “Shall We Talk” brings conversation and listening into the space between two people. Beside this photograph of a bench, it does not invent their conversation; it simply leaves time to listen.

Hello, I’m Wang Sanxiong — Sam 🤝
The book’s epigraph is my motto, and the starting point for how I understand life, restaurants, and entrepreneurship.
I am a Chinese immigrant living in Portugal, originally from Qingtian, Zhejiang, and a restaurant owner. I love architecture and the history behind it; I love the I Ching, and use Eastern wisdom to interpret the stories hidden behind history.
A battle for small and medium-sized restaurants to reclaim their own customer channels;
XIAOXIONG®; it is not an advertisement in this book. It is proof that, in the second half of life, I am still willing to change.
