Under the pines beside the Tagus are two fishermen, one heavier and one leaner, shirtless and doing battle, each guarding his own rod.
The leaner fisherman had just landed a fish, drawing two passers-by over to look. One stood; the other bent down, wearing a backpack like a traveller.
I watched them quietly and heard the camera click.
‘So happiness really is contagious;’
Fellowship with people in the open: success.
Tong Ren in the open can be read through this meeting of strangers. A fish briefly gathers the attention of fisher, passers-by and photographer without requiring a shared identity.
Afterwards, each will follow their own path. Brevity does not diminish the moment or require it to become a lasting relationship.

Hello, I’m Wang Sanxiong — Sam 🤝
The book’s epigraph is my motto, and the starting point for how I understand life, restaurants, and entrepreneurship.
I am a Chinese immigrant living in Portugal, originally from Qingtian, Zhejiang, and a restaurant owner. I love architecture and the history behind it; I love the I Ching, and use Eastern wisdom to interpret the stories hidden behind history.
A battle for small and medium-sized restaurants to reclaim their own customer channels;
XIAOXIONG®; it is not an advertisement in this book. It is proof that, in the second half of life, I am still willing to change.
