The platform outlined in red looks so fragile—like a footnote to walking on thin ice in life.
Read the note ↘Memoirs of a Chinese restaurateur in Portugal, read through life’s changes and the I Ching.
If you can make ‘creation’ as natural as breathing, it is not because intention is absent; it is because all intention has already dissolved into the breath.Sam Wang

The Portugal Pavilion’s iconic giant cantilevered concrete roof resembles a sail, appearing remarkably light amid the shimmering waters of the Tagus.
In the centre of the square, a billboard announces GIMM FEST, the 2026 science festival devoted to microbes, with the central theme “Questions of the Future – Microbes.”
The billboard’s content drew passers-by to a stop;
“The wind has stopped; the Expo is very quiet;”
Following winds: Xun. The noble person reiterates directions and carries them into action.
Xun suggests penetration and invites a question about how effects reach us. The large roof catches the eye; microbes require knowledge and instruments. Visible size does not determine significance.
The still wind describes a sensation without suspending living activity. Between silence and nothing happening lies a distance that science helps us understand.
Reading in briefVisible stillness can contain change.From the immense roof to microscopic life, the gaze comes to rest in the quiet after the wind. The expansive, reflective voice of “空谷幽兰” accompanies this moment: after so much experience, still being willing to stop and look closely.

Hello, I’m Wang Sanxiong — Sam 🤝
The book’s epigraph is my motto, and the starting point for how I understand life, restaurants, and entrepreneurship.
I am a Chinese immigrant living in Portugal, originally from Qingtian, Zhejiang, and a restaurant owner. I love architecture and the history behind it; I love the I Ching, and use Eastern wisdom to interpret the stories hidden behind history.
A battle for small and medium-sized restaurants to reclaim their own customer channels;
XIAOXIONG®; it is not an advertisement in this book. It is proof that, in the second half of life, I am still willing to change.
